I'm a British linocut printmaker, working with ideas of place, structure and perception.

I'm interested in how we actually read the world around us - how places are shaped by the systems that hold them together. Coastlines, fairgrounds, industrial sites, scaffolding, shelters, engineering works and natural formations all play a part in that. They shape how you inhabit and move through places, often without you really noticing. 

I was born in Margate with roots in South Wales and both places have become important reference points in my work. The industrial and coastal features, which I seek out elsewhere on my travels, continue to feed into how I think about landscape and structure.

I work in reduction linocut, a process where a single block us carved away in stages and printed layer by layer. Once a layer is removed, it's gone. I like that there's no way back. The image builds through a sequence of decisions that only exist in the moment of making. 

Most of my work begins outside the studio, through drawing, photography and filming in the places I'm interested in. I spend time in them rather than passing through. Back in the studio, these observations become prints. I also run workshops where people respond to similar environments through printmaking and I'm interested in how differently the place or feature can be seen by different eyes and different personal perspectives. 

My work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Royal Academy, Bankside Gallery, Mall Galleries and Somerset House. My prints are held in private collections.

I'm continuing to develop a practice that moves between being in places, making work and sharing it with others.
